Kan. man shot suspect after Ring camera alert of attempted break-in

JOHNSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating an alleged home invasion incident that sent one person to the hospital.

Just after 10am Tuesday, police responded to the 7800 block of W. 61st Terrace in Overland in reference to an armed disturbance, according to Public Information Officer John Lacy.

The tenant received notification on his video doorbell of a person attempting to enter his residence. The tenant was in the immediate area and responded to the residence and confronted the person trying to enter his residence.

A physical altercation occurred between the tenant and the suspect. Both individuals had firearms in their possession. During the incident, the suspect was shot and injured.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital with a non-life-threatening injury. The tenant was not injured.  The Criminal Investigations Division is investigating the incident, according to Lacy.
