SEDGWICK COUNTY —The Wichita Police Department is investigating a shooting incident involving a 26-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman.

Just after 3:30 a.m. Sunday, officers from the Patrol East Bureau were flagged down by an individual reporting that a man they knew had broken into their residence in the 800 block of South Edgemoor, armed with a handgun, according to Officer Juan Rebolledo.

The individual was reportedly inside the home with his ex-domestic partner and had made suicidal statements.

Officers arrived at the scene and attempted to make contact but received no response. The Wichita Police SWAT and Crisis Negotiation teams were immediately activated. Despite efforts to establish communication, no contact was made.

SWAT entered the residence later in the morning and discovered both the male suspect and his ex-domestic partner deceased from non-survivable gunshot wounds. Police released no additional details Sunday afternoon.
