KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating after a body was found in an apartment fire in Kansas City, Missouri.
Just before 9a.m. Monday, crews responded to a reported fire at a home in the 4000 block of Stateline, according to Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.
On arrival crews reported smoke and fire from the second floor of a two-story home that had been converted to apartments. KCFD received reports of someone possibly inside the structure. Searches of the structure. During the search a victim was located. The Kansas City Police Departments Bomb and Arson unit has been ordered to the scene due to the suspicious nature of the fire and the fatality.
Bomb and Arson are in charge of the investigation into the cause and the fatality at this incident. Authorities did not release the name or additional details on the victim.
