Man shot 3 victims in front of children in KC area home

KANSAS CITY—A man is facing multiple charges in connection with a fatal shooting that also left two others injured in Independence, Missouri.

Robert L. Cordato, 42, faces 1st Degree Murder, two counts of 1st Degree Assault, 1st Degree Burglary, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and four counts of Armed Criminal Action, according to the Jackson County Prosectutor's office.

On June 12, police were dispatched to a shooting at a residence in Independence and located two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. An additional victim was found deceased in the kitchen. 

Detectives determined based on witness reports that Cordato entered the residence and shot the victim in the kitchen and then shot the other two victims in a room where additional juveniles were also present. 

When police arrested Cordato the following day, he was in possession of methamphetamine. He has also been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance. 

Cordato is in custody and bond has been set at $750,000 cash only.
