NEMAHA COUNTY —A Kansas woman died in an accident just after 6p.m. Thursday in Nemaha County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2002 Toyota Camry driven by Irene Centeno-Fajarzo, 43, Topeka, was eastbound on 216th Road at Q Road attempting to pass a 2016 Chrysler 300 driven by Charles J. Kuenzi, 20, Sabetha.
Centeno-Fajarzo lost control of the Toyota and the driver's side wheels left the roadway. She overcorrected. The Toyota crossed 216th Road, struck the right rear bumper of the Chrysler, entered the south ditch and struck a wooden power pole.
Centeno-Fajarzo was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Frontier Forensics. EMS transported passengers in the Toyota Janier Montoya-Anguilar, 26, Topeka, to Stormont Vail and Gilbert Centeno, 19, Topeka, to Sabetha Community Hospital. Kuenzi was not injured. Centeno was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
