Kan. man with over a dozen convictions jailed after chase

Scott Lee Lutz has fourteen previous convictions that include robbery, theft, obstruction, arson, criminal damage to property,  battery of a law enforcement officer, flee or attempt to elude and for drugs, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. He had been released from prison in November 2020.

RENO COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas man with over a dozen previous convictions on new charges after an arrest in Rice County.

On Wednesday, the Repeat Offender Unit Officers from the Hutchinson Police Department attempted to pull over a vehicle driven by Scott L. Lutz, 32, Hutchinson, according to a media release.

Lutz fled from officers and the pursuit traveled into Rice County before the vehicle was stopped.

When the pursuit ended, Lutz was arrested on requested charges of Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent, Possession of Heroin, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Flee and Elude.

Lutz was in possession of illegal narcotics, including 171 grams of methamphetamine, and he was later booked into the Reno County Correctional Facility on a $250,000 bond.
