Inmate convicted of murder dies in Kansas prison

RENO COUNTY —Hutchinson Correctional Facility (HCF) inmate 55-year-old Michael Rogers died at the facility Monday, according to a media release from the Kansas Department of Corrections.

The cause of death is unknown and is pending the results of an independent autopsy.

Per protocol, when a resident dies in the custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections (KDOC), the death is under investigation by the KDOC and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

Rogers was serving a 354-month sentence for a conviction of one count of First-Degree Murder in Shawnee County, Kansas.
