BARTON COUNTY —Authorities are investigating the cause of a Friday morning fire in Great Bend.
Just after 2.m., Great Bend Fire and EMS units were dispatched to the report of a fire in the 200 block of Chestnut Street, according to a media release from Great Bend Fire and EMS.
First responders found a single-wide mobile home fully involved in fire. Crews also found a large amount of miscellaneous items and debris surrounding the home that were on fire as well. The fire was threatening two nearby mobile homes, one of which was occupied at the time.
Due to the fire conditions, crews took a defensive approach. Multiple hose lines were deployed simultaneously to knock down the fire and protect the surrounding structures.
The mobile home was not occupied, and there were no utilities connected to the residence at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
Great Bend Fire & EMS was assisted on scene by the Great Bend Police Department, Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office, Wheatland Electric, and Kansas Gas.
