Police DUI crash into house put Kansas man in jail

COWLEY COUNTY— A Kansas man was arrested after a crash into a home just before 10p.m. Wednesday in Cowley County.

According to Arkansas City Police, a vehicle driven by 22-year-old Anthony Perez-Hernandez had gone through the stop sign at the intersection of North 2nd Streed and Kansas Avenue in Arkansas City and collided with the home in the 200 Block of W. Kansas Avenue.

 Perez-Hernandez exhibited signs of alcohol impairment. Standardized field sobriety tests were administered, revealing further clues of impairment.

Police transported Perez-Hernandez to the Arkansas City Police Department for additional testing. Following the tests, he was taken to the Cowley County Jail on requested charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, lack of proof of insurance, transporting an open container and reckless driving.

His bond was set for $750. The passenger in the vehicle, Pedro Marcos Pascual, was found in possession of an open container and was cited and released for this violation.  There were no injuries from the crash and Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department assessed the structural integrity of the home.
