HARVEY COUNTY —Authorities released the name of the man who suffered critical injuries – and later died of his injuries – in a motorcycl crash on Thursday.
Oswaldo Puentes-Rodriguez, 20, of Newton, was driving a motorcycle in the 300 block of W. 12th Street in Newton on Thursday night when he was thrown from the motorcycle, according to a media release from Harvey County Sheriff’s Office.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the accident at 8:23 p.m. Puentes-Rodriguez was transported to Wesley Medical Center in extremely critical condition. Puentes-Rodriguez died Sunday.
Preliminary information indicates Puentes-Rodriguez rapidly accelerated through a curve in the roadway before he lost control of the vehicle and was thrown from it. Evidence suggests he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
