SALINE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a stabbing outside a church in Salina.
Just after 9p.m. Wednesday, officers were sent to the Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at the intersection of 7th and Mulberry Street in Salina after a report of a man who had been stabbed, according to Salina Police Sergeant Kyle Tonniges.
Police identified the victim as 40-year-old Jeffery Andrew.
“He had a serious stab wound to his abdomen, but it was not life-threatening. He was transported to the hospital,” Tonniges said. "Andrew had been sleeping near a bush located next to the church when the stabbing occurred." He gave police a description of the subject and detectives are investigating.
Tonniges added that Andrew does not have a residential address in Salina and the victim said there was no altercation prior to the attack.
