Escape status: Kansas inmate did not return to work release facility

WICHITA, Kansas. – Kansas Department of Corrections placed inmate Royce Lee Timmons on escape status at approximately 6:15 p.m. on Saturday, according to a statement from the KDOC.  Timmons did not return to the Wichita Work Release Facility.

Timmons, 42, was reported missing when he could not be located at the minimum-security unit. This walkaway does not impact the security or operations of the medium-maximum secure compound.

Timmons is described as 5-feet-11, 224 pounds with an athletic build. He has black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black shorts, a grey hoodie shirt and blue hat.

Timmons was convicted in Sedgwick County for 29 months of incarceration for criminal possession of firearms while on parole. He was on parole for March 2011 aggravated robbery convictions.

The walk-away is being investigated. The KDOC released no additional details.
