Man arrested; Kan. teen dies from injuries in wrong-way crash

SHAWNEE COUNTY —A Kansas teen injured in an accident February 15 in Shawnee County has died.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported that just after 9:30p.m. on Feb. 15, a 2010 Chevy Impala driven by 40-year-old Anthony Ray Tugwell of Scranton, was northbound in the southbound lanes of U.S. 75 just north of 97th Street.

The Chevy struck a 1995 Dodge Intrepid driven by Alyssa Marie Lee, 16, Carbondale, head-on.

EMS transported Lee and Tugwell to Stormont Vail.  Lee died on Friday, according to the KHP. Tugwell was treated, released and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. He was initially jailed on requested charges of Aggravated battery; DUI causing great bodily harm/disfigurement, Driving Under Influence of Alcohol or Drugs; Misdemeanor and Driving Opposite Direction On Divided Highway, according to online jail records that were not updated since Lee's death.
