Sheriff: Search continues for car that struck Kan. bicyclist

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a hit and run accident continue asking the public for help to locate a  silver 2012-2018 Ford Focus, according to Sheriff's Deputy Abigail Christian.

Just before 2p.m. Monday, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call regarding a vehicle versus a bicycle accident in the 5500 block of SW Burlingame Road.

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene southbound after striking the bicyclist. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital by American Medical Response with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office is attempting to locate the driver of the silver Ford Focus. The vehicle is missing the passenger side mirror. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office (785-251-2200)
