KANSAS CITY—Homicide detectives with the Kansas City, Missouri police department are very busy again. Police reported four homicides over the past five days.
Just after 08:30a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to report of a shooting at Truman and Cleveland, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
On arrival officers located a vehicle that appeared to have gunshot damage that had come to rest at that location. Inside that vehicle was an adult male shooting victim, later identified as Shockley, who was unresponsive.
EMS responded and declared Shockley deceased at the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates Shockley the lone occupant inside the vehicle as it was traveling westbound, when gunfire came from outside the vehicle to the inside, striking him.
Police have not released suspect information and no one is in custody.
Just after 11a.m. Thursday, police were dispatched to report of an injury accident at 48th Terrace and Vermont Avenue, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina. While en route officers were advised the call was a possible shooting call.
First responders located an electric motorbike at the scene abandoned, as well as indications of a shooting crime scene. Officers were told that the victim had been transported to the hospital by KCFD EMS prior to their arrival.
Additional officers responded to the hospital and made contact with medical personnel who were treating the victim. Emergency medical personnel advised the victim had been shot and was in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was shot at the location where the electric bike was located in the intersection. This is now a homicide investigation. Police have not released the name of the victim.
Just before 7am Saturday, police were dispatched to a house in the 5600 block of Agnes on a shooting call, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina.
First responders were directed inside to an adult female shooting victim identified as 38-year-old Nevada N. Mosley who was unresponsive. Officers rendered aid until EMS arrived and took over treatment.
EMS transported her to the hospital where she was declared deceased.
Preliminary investigation indicates Mosley had an interaction with another person inside the residence that led to gunfire which struck her. The suspect then left the scene in an unknown direction. Detectives believe the victim and suspect are known to each other
A subject of interest was taken into custody Sunday morning and detectives will be working with prosecutors who will determine all applicable charges, according to Becchina.
Just before 4 am Sunday, officers were dispatched to a shooting call on Independence and Van Brunt. Simultaneously a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was nearby and heard the sound of gunshots and responded to the scene.
On arrival officers and the deputy located a shooting victim later identified as 35-year-old Kierra McGee, unresponsive in the parking lot of the auto parts business on the northwest corner of the intersection. Officers called for EMS who responded and declared McGee deceased at the scene.
Preliminary information indicates that McGee was at the location in the parking lot with an unknown number of other people when one or more suspects began shooting and she was struck.
Detectives believe as many a few dozen people were present when shots were fired and they still need to hear from anyone who heard or saw anything
