DOUGLAS COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a robbery and have suspects in custody.
Just after 3p.m. Thursday, police responded to report of a robbery in the 3000 Block of Bainbridge Circle in Lawrence, according to police spokesperson Laura McCabe.
At the scene, police found a woman, her 2-year-old son and another man who was not present when the crime occurred.
The woman told police the suspects were armed with at least one handgun and robbed her at gunpoint of money, other items and fled to a nearby vehicle.
Officers were able to locate the suspect vehicle in north Lawrence and conducted surveillance on the home for several hours. Officers then detained three individuals as they left the residence at different times.
One vehicle stop was conducted without incident. The other resulted in a pursuit of approximately four blocks where the suspect's vehicle was disabled by a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy who utilized a Tactical Vehicle Intervention near 7th and Maple.
Hours later, officers conducted a search warrant at the home they were surveilling. There were no injuries during the robbery, arrests or search warrant execution. Police did not release names of the suspects.
