SEDGWICK COUNTY—A Kansas man is joining his father in prison for his role in a deadly shooting.

On Thursday, Judge Jeffrey Goering sentenced 19-year-old Tryee Jackson, Jr. to 422 months in prison in the shooting death of 20-year-old Jaden Wilson, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney's office.

Jackson will also be required to serve 36 months of post-release supervision.

In March of 2024, police were alerted to a shooting incident in the 2200 Block of N. Grove in Wichita, according to Police spokesperson Andrew Ford.

First responders discovered Wilson outside of a gold Buick, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body. Despite immediate medical attention, he was pronounced deceased at 5:46 p.m. by Sedgwick County Emergency Medical Services.

A witness in the vehicle at the time of the incident was able to provide officers with details that quickly led to the identification of Jackson's father, Tyree Jackson, Sr., as the suspect.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim and the suspect were acquainted and involved in an ongoing dispute.

A short time after the shooting occurred, a 17-year-old suspect, later identified as Tyree Jackson, Jr., voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement at the Sedgwick County Jail and was later charged in Juvenile court, according to the district attorney's office.

In February, Jackson's father Tyree Jackson Sr., was sentenced to 12 years in prison in the case, according to the district attorney's office.
