Police: Reported stolen puppies returned to owners at Kan. store

CASS COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities looking for two people wanted in connection with the robbery of two puppies from a woman at a Harrisonville gas station have recovered the puppies.

Just after 4p.m. July 7, police responded to Sapp Bros, 27603 SW Outer Road in Harrisonville in reference to a theft report, according to a social media report from police.

Police asked for help to locate Melanie and Donnell Mendez. Police believe they reside in the Kansas City, Kansas area. They are persons of interest in the theft of two American Pitbull pups.  On Monday Lost and Found Pets of KC reported  the two puppies were brought into the Wyandotte Plaza PetSmart and returned to their rightful owners. Police confirmed the dogs were reunited with the owners. Police have not reported an arrest or additional details.
