Funeral details for fallen KCPD officer, K9 partner

KANSAS CITY —The visitation and funeral service for Officer James Muhlbauer and K-9 Champ will be Wednesday, February 22nd at Municipal Auditorium, 301 W. 13th St., Kansas City.

A public visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. the funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:30 a.m. after the service Full Honors will be presented on 13th St. in front of the auditorium. There will be an Honor Guard on 13th St. There will be no graveside services.

Officer James Muhlbauer and K-9 Officer Champ were killed in the line of duty Wednesday night when a vehicle crashed into them while they were on patrol. Muhlbauer was a 20-year veteran of KCPD, while K-9 Champ was with the police department for one year.
