KANSAS CITY —A Kansas City man faces murder for the death of his brother over the past weekend. Jacob Ackerman, 44,  faces 2nd Degree Murder and Armed Criminal Action, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Melesa Johnson.

On July 5, Sugar Creek, Missouri officers were dispatched to the area of M-291 and 210 Highway on a welfare check and found the victim lying on his back on the bank of a pond. He had a wound on the back of his head. 

Detectives received reports that the victim’s brother was responsible for his death. The defendant later admitted in an interview with detectives that he stood behind the victim and shot him in the head after they got into an argument. 

The defendant is being held on a $300,000 cash-only bond.
