HAYS, Kan. – Fort Hays State Men's Basketball looks to bounce back from a tough loss in buzzer-beating fashion when it hosts Emporia State on Saturday (Nov. 21) at Gross Memorial Coliseum. Game time is 4 pm, and it is the only contest of the day since the women's game is postponed to a later date. This will be the 191st meeting between FHSU and ESU in men's basketball.

Emporia State enters the contest at 1-0 after picking up a 69-57 win at Nebraska-Kearney on Thursday night. In all four games in the MIAA on Thursday night, the road team won.

Fort Hays State has won six of the last seven meetings with Emporia State. The teams split a pair of regular season games last year, each winning on their home floors. Emporia State won 69-66 in Emporia, while FHSU won 56-46 in Hays. FHSU holds a 104-86 advantage in the all-time series, including a strong 63-28 advantage in Hays. FHSU has won the last three meetings in Hays between the teams.

Jared Vitztum led the Tigers in the season opener Thursday night with 16 points and 9 rebounds. He scored the final 10 points of the game for FHSU, including a 3-point field goal with just over eight seconds remaining that temporarily put the Tigers in front before Washburn's buzzer-beating shot to win the game. Quinten Rock and Kaleb Hammeke each led the Tigers with four assists each.
