
GRAND COUNTY, Colorado— A skier from Kansas died after he struck a tree at a Colorado resort on Tuesday.
Just before 11a.m. March 18, Winter Park Ski Patrol received reporting that a man struck a tree on the Lupin, an advanced trail at the Winter Park Ski resort, according to the Fraser Winter Park Police Department. Resort guests on the scene started CPR on the man later identified as 20-year-old Andrew McDonald of Shawnee, Kansas, according to Grand County Coroner's office. When the Ski Patrol arrived, they transported McDonald to Denver Health Winter Park Medical Center at the base of the resort.
Despite resuscitation efforts, McDonald was pronounced deceased. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to police.
