JOHNSON COUNTY —A 17-year-old girl died from injuries in an accident that occurred just before 4a.m. Monday in Johnson County.
Kansas City Police reported a vehicle with four teens was westbound on State Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck a struck an eastbound vehicle that was attempting to make a left turn at the traffic signal at North 75th Place. The vehicle with the teens then struck a utility pole.
Five of six victims in the crash were thrown from vehicles. Emergency crews had to extricate the other occupant.
Chelsey Updike, 17, Kansas City, Kansas died late Wednesday from her injuries, according to police. Two other teens and two adults remain hospitalized in serious condition. One teen has been released from the hospital.
