
SEDGWICK COUNTY — Law enforcement are investigating a shooting that occurred in the 1300 block of S. Topeka in Wichita and have made an arrest.
Just after 8:30 a.m. Sunday, a 62-year-old male victim from Wichita walked to Fire Station #2 with a gunshot wound to the leg, according to a media release from police. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries and is expected to survive.
Patrol officers responded rapidly and located the suspect, 43-year-old Anthony Irby of Wichita, according to Sedgwick County arrest records. Irby was nearby and attempted to flee on a bicycle. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail.
The investigation revealed that the suspect and victim were involved in an argument over property when the shooting occurred. Irby is being held on requested charges of aggravated battery, criminal possession of a weapon and interference with law enforcement, according to online records.
