
BROWN COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating a shooting have charged on suspect and have another in custody.
Just after 4p.m. Monday, the Brown County law enforcement dispatch received a call of a possible shooting and battery in the vicinity of U.S. 36 Highway near Timber, according to Sheriff John Merchant.
Deputies responded and located a woman who suffered an apparent gunshot wound to the lower leg. Town and Country Ambulance transported her to Amberwell Hospital in Hiawatha.
Investigators learned that the suspect had fled the scene before deputies arrived and an Attempt To Locate was immediately issued by Brown County Dispatch to surrounding areas.
A short time later deputies learned the suspect had been located in St Joseph, Missouri and was arrested. His name has not been released.
During the investigation, deputies arrested 55-year-old Shane Meggison on charges of Child Endangerment, Felony
Obstruction, Possession of Meth, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia,
Possession of Marijuana and No Drug Tax Stamp. His bond issued Wednesday is $25,000, according to Merchant.
