
Harvey County—A Kansas man who admitted to child sex crimes is going to prison.
On July 16, Harvey County District Court Judge Jason Lane sentenced 39-year-old Jerad Carmichael, of Sedgwick, Kansas, to 224 months (18 years and 8 months) in prison for child sex crimes, according to the Harvey County District Attorney's office.
On May 1, 2025, Carmichael pled guilty to one count of Rape of a Child Under the Age of 14 and one count of Aggravated Criminal Sodomy. The offenses occurred between April 1, 2023, and April 21, 2024, in Harvey County, Kansas. The victim was under the age of 10 at the time of the crimes.
Carmichael will also be subject to lifetime post-release supervision and must register as a sexual offender under the Kansas Offender Registration Act.
This case was prosecuted with assistance from the Harvey County Sheriff’s Office, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office, and the Heart to Heart Child Advocacy Center.
