KHP IDs Kansas man killed in motorcycle accident

ELLSWORTH COUNTY —The Kansas Highway Patrol has released the name of the motorcyclist who died in an accident just before 1:30p.m. Tuesday in Ellsworth County.

According to the Patrol a 2021 Harley Davidson driven by William E. Byrd, 65, Ellsworth, was was westbound on Kansas 140 one mile east of Kansas 156. The vehicle traveled off the roadway into the north ditch, struck a culvert and went airborne. Byrd was ejected from the motorcycle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and transported to Parson's Funeral Home. He  was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.

ELLSWORTH COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 1:30p.m. Tuesday in Ellsworth County.

A motorcycle was westbound on Kansas 140 Highway near the city of Ellsworth, according to the Ellsworth County Sheriff. The vehicle traveled off the road and struck the north-side ditch.  The driver, who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced decease.  

First Responders from the Kansas Highway Patrol, Ellsworth Police Department, Ellsworth County Sheriff's Office, Ellsworth County EMS, Ellsworth County Fire, and EagleMed / MedTrans Global Medical responded to this event.  Authorities have not released the name of the motorcyclist or additional details.
