
KANSAS CITY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspicious death at the scene of a house fire in Kansas City.
Just after 8a.m. Sunday, fire crews responded to a reported house fire in the 1600 block of Elmwood in Kansas City, Missouri,, according to KCFD Battalion Chief Michael Hopkins.
Crews reported smoke showing from the single-story residence and initiated interior operations. During the search of the structure, fire crews discovered a victim and removed her from the home.

During the patient assessment it was determined that the victim was deceased due to injuries not related to the fire. The fire was brought under control and The Kansas City Police department along with Bomb and Arson detectives were ordered to the scene.
KCPD crime scene investigators responded as well to process the scene for evidence.
Ultimately detectives will work with the medical examiner who will make the determination of the cause and manner of death of the victim.
Bomb and Arson detectives will work in conjunction with KCFD to investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
"We want to work to gather all evidence and conduct a thorough investigation while the scene is available to us in the event the medical examiner makes a ruling of homicide," according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina. At this time this investigation is being classified as a suspicious death
