Police: Driver who died in Kan. crash had gunshot wound

JOHNSON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a potential road-rage death on a Kansas highway.

Just before 6a.m. Thursday, police responded to the report of a single vehicle off the roadway on southbound Interstate 435 highway at the K-10 highway interchange, according to a media release.

First responders found a white Jeep Grand Cherokee that crashed into a light pole in the ditch. The driver and sole occupant of the Jeep, an adult male, was dead inside the vehicle.

Just after 6a.m., the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to work the crash. It was later determined that the man inside the vehicle had sustained a gunshot wound.

The Lenexa Police Department continues conducting a death investigation to include the circumstances leading up to this incident. Police have not released the identity of the driver.

Anyone who may have information about this incident, including any possible road rage behaviors observed between a white Jeep Grand Cherokee and another vehicle on southbound I-435 highway at around 5:45 A.M.
