Kan. nursing home resident accused of using, selling meth

BARTON COUNTY—Law enforcement are investigating a nursing home resident on drug allegations.

Just after 3p.m. June 12, police in coordination with Central Kansas Community Corrections, responded to a narcotics complaint at Azria Health Woodhaven, located off K-96 Highway in Great Bend, according to a media release.

Facility staff reported concerns from residents about a fellow tenant allegedly using and possibly distributing illegal substances within the premises.  Officers detained 71-year-old Larry Eugene Carpenter for investigation.

A subsequent search of Carpenter's residence revealed suspected methamphetamine and related drug paraphernalia. Additionally, Carpenter was found to be in violation of the Kansas Drug Tax Stamp Act. Carpenter was arrested and transported to the Barton County Jail. He remains in custody, according to online jail records.
