Wanted Kan. man was throwing credit cards, shoved police officers

SALINE COUNTY —Police arrested a wanted Kansas Tuesday after an incident at a business in Salina.

Just after 2p.m. police were sent to the 24/7 Travel Store, 2239 N. Ninth Street in Salina for the report of a customer throwing credit cards, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester.

When officers arrived, they found the man, identified as Maurio Williams, 38, of Salina, on the east side of the business.

Williams had active warrants for failure to appear from Saline County District Court and Salina Municipal Court.

When the officers attempted to take Williams into custody, he allegedly shoved one of the officers in the chest and a physical altercation ensued. Williams and the officers ended up on the ground, according to Forrester.

Williams was placed into a bodyguard restraint system for transport. While the restraint was being secured, Williams allegedly spit in the face of one of the officers.

Williams is jailed on requested charges that include battery of a law enforcement officer and Interference with law enforcement, according to Forrester.
