Police: 10-year-old SW Kan. boy injured after hit and run

FINNEY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a hit and run accident and asking the public for assistance to locate a vehicle.

Just before 7a.m. Tuesday, an a police officer was in the area of the intersection of 3rd and Mary Street in Garden City when she was told about an accident that had just occurred involving a child on a bicycle, according to Sergeant Lana Urteaga.

Witnesses said a ten year-old-boy was riding his bicycle on the north sidewalk of 300 east Mary Street when he was struck by a red, unknown make passenger car as he attempted to ride his bike across the street. The passenger car fled the area and did not stop to render aid.

The boy sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene by Finney County EMS. The child was released to family members, according to Urteaga.
