
KANSAS CITY —A passenger injured in an accident on Wednesday in Kansas City has died.
Just after 12:30 a.m., a silver Dodge Journey was southbound on Broadway in Kansas City, Missouri, according to KCPD Captain Jake Becchina. The driver of the Dodge suffered a possible medical emergency and accelerated through the intersection of Linwood and Broadway.
The vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right, struck an unoccupied parked Lexus and traveled up onto the sidewalk. The Dodge then struck a steel light pole, the Vietnam Memorial and continued traveling southbound through the grass and struck the side of the VFW building.
EMS transported both the driver and front seat passenger of the of the Dodge to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Both were reported in very critical condition.
The passenger of the Dodge Journey, an adult female, was pronounced deceased at the Wednesday night, according to Becchina. Police released no additional details including the name of the victim.
This is fatality #55 compared to #80 last year in Kansas City, Missouri.
