WYANDOTTE COUNTY—One person died in an accident during a police pursuit just after 5p.m. Thursday in Wyandotte County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Chevy pickup driven by Brian Trober, 31, Kansas City, Kansas was eastbound on Interstate 70 exiting to Interstate 635 southbound.
The driver lost control of the pickup. It entered the southwest ditch, struck a metal guardrail, overturned down a rock embankment and came to rest in the north ditch off Kaw Drive.
EMS transported Trober and a passenger 21-year-old Bradley Kirch of Kansas City, Kansas to KU Medical Center where Trober died.
Trober had multiple previous convictions including for theft, aggravated battery, criminal possession of a firearm and three for Battery of a Juvenile Correctional Officer or Employee, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections. The KHP did not report what prompted the chase. The pickup involved in the crash did not have a license plate displayed.
