DOUGLAS COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities investigating the death of a man whose body was found near the Kansas River in Lawrence have made an arrest.
Just after 7:00 p.m. Thursday, officers located 34-year-old Chadwick Potter who was wanted for questioning in reference to the homicide discovered near 6th and Vermont on July 12, according to Police Sgt. Drew Fennelly.
Officers on patrol located Potter behind a building near 19th and Massachusetts Street. He is being held at the Douglas County Correctional Facility on a requested charge of first degree murder.
The victim 62-year-old David Sullivan, was found dead near 6th and Vermont, near the Kansas River Wednesday morning, and appeared to have suffered traumatic injuries after being struck with a blunt object.
Police will submit the case to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office for charging consideration.
