WYANDOTTE COUNTY—Law enforcement took a murder suspect into custody following a barricade situation at a residence in Kansas City, Kansas.
Just after 6:30p.m. Wednesday, Kansas City, Kansas Police Department’s Special Operations Unit was in the area near McGrew Grove and Quindaro Blvd. serving a warrant in the November 30 shooting death of 17-year-old Nicholas Brooks.
Once on scene, officers made contact with the suspect, an adult male, who then entered a residence and refused to exit, barricading himself inside for several hours.
At approximately 9p.m., following several tactical interventions, Kansas City, Kansas police negotiators were successful in convincing the suspect, to exit the residence.
He was then taken into custody without incident. Detectives with the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department also responded to the scene to investigate the suspect as a person of interest in a number of violent crimes in their city. Police did not release the name of the suspect.
