SHAWNEE COUNTY —A 17-year-old girl wounded in a weekend shooting in Topeka has died.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a call for service in the 1100 Block of SW Clay Street, according to Lt. Jerry Monasmith. The caller reported a woman later identified as Navaeh Martinez, 17, Topeka,  was suffering from a gunshot wound.

On arrival, officers located the Martinez who was transported to a local hospital. 

On Sunday, police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Daisha Butler of Topeka. Police transported her to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. She now faces a requested charge of first-degree murder and along aggravated battery.

Just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to a call for service in the 1100 Block of SW Clay Street, according to Lt. Jerry Monasmith. The caller reported  a woman was suffering from a gunshot wound.

On arrival, officers located the victim, who was transported to a local hospital. 

On Sunday, police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Daisha Butler of Topeka. Police transported her to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of attempted 1st Degree Murder and Aggravated Battery, according to Monasmith.
