MONTGOMERY COUNTY—One person died in an accident on Tuesday morning in Montgomery County.
According to Sheriff Ron Wade, a 2024 Kia passenger vehicle driven by Heath Ellis, 21, Caney, was traveling on U.S. 75 near County Road 3600 southwest of Independence, Kansas. The vehicle left the road, overturned, struck a culvert and caught fire. Ellis was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation, according to Wade.
