Phyllis Jean (Eiler) Metcalf was born on May 17, 1932, the youngest 
of eight children, on a farm about 2 miles north of Oberlin. The house 
was blown away by a tornado in 1942, then the family moved to a house 
about half-mile west to Howard and Lena (Reasoner) Eiler farm.

Phyllis finished her work here on earth and entered into heaven on December 17, 2022, at the age of 90.

Phyllis
 attended grade and high school in Oberlin, graduating in 1950.  She 
worked at the Farmers National Bank till her marriage to Dole Metcalf on
 July 8, 1954, and they moved to his parents’ farmstead in Harlan 
township the following year.  It was there that they raised their 2 
children Patricia Ann and Joseph Kent.

Farm activities were the 
major project of her living on the farm along with gardening and cooking
 many meals, in addition to being a member and serving the Prairie 
Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was also a member of the UMW and 
American Legion Auxiliary which she was president for 4 years and helped
 with many projects.

In 1991, she and Dole retired from the farm 
and moved to Oberlin.  It was then Phyllis took up a new profession 
after many years of volunteering she became a CNA and worked at the Good
 Samaritan Center for over 20 years.  A job she really enjoyed and 
served on many committees.

She leaves her two children: Pat Ranz 
of Fertile, MN and Joe (Lolita) Metcalf of Danbury, NE; grandchildren: 
Eric Ranz of Thornton, CO, Julie (Sam) Morales of Thornton, CO, Alex 
(Emily) Ranz of Ada, MN, Brandon (Bryanna) Metcalf of Wilson, KS, Marci 
(Dave) Scott of Chesapeake, VA; great grandchildren: Arielle Ranz, 
Braden Fortin, Elsie Ranz, Tove Ranz, Embersyn Ranz, Axten Ranz, Noah 
Scott, Melody Scott, Lane Metcalf, Kambrie Metcalf, and Brayer Metcalf; 
as well as many nieces and nephews.  Phyllis was preceded in death by 
her husband, Dole, in 2011; siblings: Brian and Estelle in infancy, 
Robert in 1948, Margaret (Lloyd) Hurlbut, Pauline (Vern) Loomis, Floyd 
(Mary) Eiler, and Harry (Beverly) Eiler; son-in-law: Steven Ranz and 
great grandson: David George Scott III.

Funeral services will be 
Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at 11:00 AM at the United Methodist Church 
of Oberlin.  Visitation will be from 1:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, December 
20, 2022, at Pauls Funeral Home.  Family will receive guest from 
5:00-7:00 PM.  Burial will be in Oberlin Cemetery.

Saturday, December 17, 2022, at the Scott County Hospital in Scott City, 
Kansas.&nbsp; She was born on February 5, 1921, in Manford, Oklahoma, the 
daughter of Robert James and Belle Zickaffos Lewis.&nbsp; A resident of Scott
 City, Kansas since 1939 moving from Ness City, Kansas, she was a Avon 
Salesman and a homemaker.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Scott City, Kansas.

On October 26, 1939, she married Herman Funk in Ness City, Kansas.&nbsp; He passed away on February 29, 2000, in Scott City, Kansas.

Survivors include her Three Sons - Larry &amp; Sharolyn Funk of 
Garden City, Kansas, Robert &amp; Anita Funk of Scott City, Kansas, 
Kelly Funk of Scott City, Kansas, One Daughter - &nbsp;Sheila &amp; Roy Boyd 
of Scott City, Kansas, Eleven Grandchildren, Eighteen Great 
Grandchildren, and Sixteen Great Great Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband - Herman, One 
Daughter - Judith Kitch, One Granddaughter - Toni Kitch and One Great 
Grandson - Anthony Chase Berning.

Donna Dee Eibert, 94, died on Friday, December 16, 2022, at Lane County 
Hospital in Dighton. She was born on May 24, 1928, in Scott City to Ed 
Matthies &amp; Gladys (Carpenter) Matthies. She Married Douglas Eibert 
on November 6, 1949, in Scott County. 
Donna was born and raised in Scott City. She moved to Dighton and 
graduated High School in 1945. She worked as a secretary for the Lane 
County Attorney Office. Then she worked at Lane County Abstract and 
eventually became owner. She was a member of First Christian Church and 
Hell’s Angels Bicycle Club. She enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, 
bowling, golfing and being with her family especially her grandchildren.
 Donna rooted for all Kansas teams including the Chiefs, KU, K-State and
 the Royals. 
She is survived by her son, D. Douglas Eibert of Dighton; daughter, 
Deanne Graham of Garden City; three Grandchildren &amp; seven 
Great-Grandchildren; two nieces &amp; two nephews. She was preceded in 
death by her husband, her parents, a brother Robert Matthies and sister 
Bernice Young. 
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday December 20, 2022,&nbsp; at First Christian Church in Dighton. Burial will follow at Dighton

Donna Dee Eibert

Ireeta Ubben, 92, of Phillipsburg, KS passed away surrounded by family
 and loved ones on December 14th, 2022, at Wesley Hospital in Wichita, 
KS.

Ireeta was born on May 2nd, 1930, to Elizabeth and Raymond&nbsp; Baughman. 
She grew up on a farm in Peabody, Kansas, and worked at the family 
restaurant during highschool.

Ireeta met Wayne Ubben while directing traffic as part of an 
initiation for a school club. Later he told her he knew right then and 
there he was going to marry her. The two were married on April 28, 1950.
 While Wayne was attending college on a football scholarship at WSU. 
Wayne’s job brought them to Phillipsburg KS where he coached and taught 
school, while Ireeta cooked and brought in ironing. They raised 4 kids. 
Susan and (Harvey) Jansonius, Bradley and (Becky) Ubben, Tom and (Sue) 
Ubben and Richard and (Brenda) Ubben.

Ireeta never met anyone that she could not befriend and mother too. 
She was the neighborhood mom and grandma to so many. She was active in 
the community working at the Thrift store and eating at the bakery or 
traveling with the Fabulous 5 (Loretta, Carol, Sandra, Gwen and Ireeta)

Ireeta was predeceased by her husband Wayne Ubben, son Bradley Ubben,
 granddaughter Jamie Jansonius, siblings Dick Baughman, Jim Baughman and
 Judy Hale, and her parents. She is survived by her children Tom and Sue
 Ubben of Laramie, Wyoming, Becky Ubben of Hutchinson, Kansas, Susie and
 Harvey Jansonius of Hays, Kansas, Richard and Brenda Ubben of Wichita, 
Kansas along with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jessica, 
Eddie, Christian and Chase Brooks Saint George, Kansas. Jayne, Parker, 
Roselyn and Foster Loghry Grand Island Nebraska. Andrew, Brittany, Nora,
 Elsie and Tucker Ubben Indian Hills, Colorado. Kandy, Josh, Avery and 
AJ Gooch Hutchinson, Kansas. Stacey, Chris and Colter Harvey Laramie 
Wyoming. Andrew and Grace Hauff Wichita, Kansas. She will be greatly 
missed.

Ireeta Ubben

Dorothy Jean (Killough) Devlin, age 94, passed away on December 17, 2022, at Heritage of Red Cloud, Red Cloud, Nebraska.

She
 was born July 23, 1928, the son of James C. and Fannie A. (Miksch) 
Killough in Washington County Colorado and moved to Red Cloud, Nebraska 
at age 4.  Dorothy graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1946. Dorothy
 married Darrell Devlin in Red Cloud, NE September 7, 1947, at the Church
 of Christ in Red Cloud, NE.  After returning home from their honeymoon,
 Darrell and Dorothy moved to the family farm.

Preceding
 her death were her parents, James C. Killough and Fannie A. Killough; 
husband, Darrell W. Devlin; brother, James J. Killough, Jr; sister, Beth
 I. (Killough) Larsen; Daughter-in-Law, Suanne Devlin; and brother, 
Robert N. Killough.

Dorothy was baptized in 1953 and a 
member of the Womer Church, until the church closed; she then was a 
member of the First Christian Church in Smith Center. Darrell and 
Dorothy moved from the farm to Smith Center in February of 1980. Dorothy
 was a loving daughter, wife, wonderful mother, and grandma (granny)." 
They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary in 2012 in Salina, KS 
with family and friends. She was heavily involved in the church at 
Womer. She was also a member of the Sweet Adalines. She will be sadly 
missed by family and friends and we will all be left with many wonderful
 memories. 

Survivors include; a daughter Darylnn (Gary) Shipman of Red 
Cloud, NE; sons, Doug (Gwenda) Devlin of Lebanon, KS; Dale Devlin of 
Wichita, KS; Dane (Shana) Devlin of Wellsville, KS; 8 Grandchildren,

Forks, ND; Konni Shipman of Red Cloud, NE; Sharri Kucera of Hastings,

Patsy L. Ostmeyer (Sowers)

Mateel "Teel" Rousey Haas, 98, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away December 8, 2022, at her home with family at her side.

Teel was born July 27, 1924 in Hays, Kansas, to William and Dorothea 
Rousey.&nbsp; Teel grew up in Alma Center, Wisconsin, where she graduated from
 high school in 1942. She attended one semester of college at the 
University of Wisconsin, Madison.&nbsp; During WW II, she worked at Camp 
McCoy, Wisconsin, and in a factory in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. &nbsp; She later 
worked at the VA Hospital in Wadsworth, Kansas, where she met her 
husband of 55 years, Edward C. Haas.

After living in Phoenix, Arizona, for several years, Teel and Ed moved
 their family to the greater KC metropolitan area where they raised 
their four children. Teel worked for Farmers Insurance Group as a rate 
analyst for over 20 years.

Teel was known for her leadership and active participation in the 
Greater Kansas City Chapter of Sweet Adelines for over 60 years.&nbsp; Teel 
sang with several choruses and quartets in Phoenix, Arizona and the 
Greater Kansas City Chapter.&nbsp; She enthusiastically offered her 
seamstress talents to sew competition show costumes for herself and many
 others. Teel also participated in over a dozen local musical theatre 
productions, including Tom Sawyer (Aunt Polly), Into the Woods (Red’s 
Granny) and Sound of Music (singing nun solo).&nbsp; In her 60’s she 
discovered a modeling career and appeared in many local commercials.&nbsp;

Teel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward C.; 
her son, Grover Michael; her sister, Willa A. Meier; and her brother, 
Richard P. Rousey.&nbsp; She is survived by her daughters, Teel D. Haas, 
Carla J. Adams (Alan) and Janet H. Shivers (Kelvin); her grandchildren, 
Michael E. Haas, Joel A. Adams, Abby M. Adams, Jolene E. Evans and 
Kelvin G. Shivers II; and six great-grandchildren.

Teel will be laid to rest with her husband at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date and will be posted
 on the Amos Family Funeral Home website (www.amosfamily.com).&nbsp; Memorial
 contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or
 the Alzheimers Association.

Mateel 'Teel' Rousey Haas

Thomas William Miller, 77, of Salina, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, December 14th, 2022.

Tom was born in Salina, Kansas, on September 4, 1945, a son of the late Inez (DeMars) and Leonard William Miller.

Tom
 served in the United States Navy aboard the carriers USS Hornet and 
Hancock for 4 years. During his time on the Hornet, he participated in 
the recovery of the Apollo 11 and 12 lunar modules.

He owned Tom Miller Painting and Papering and "Tommy" was a long time member of the Salina Elks Lodge.

Survivors
 include his wife, Nan (Luce) Miller; two sons, Ross Miller (Megan), of 
Salina, Kansas, Drew Miller (Whitney Gebhart-Miller), of Loveland, 
Colorado; and 7 grandchildren, Maci, Madison, Caden, Jackson, Kyle, 
Lily, and Kane.

Tom is also survived by his brother, Richard "Dick" Miller (Sharalena), of Nashville, Tennessee.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21st, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina.

Thomas William Miller

Gary Wayne McArthur, 78, passed away on December 16, 2022, at Wesley 
Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. He was born on July 22, 1944, to G.W. 
and Ida (Kissinger) McArthur in Denver, Colorado. On February 11, 1978, 
he married Patricia Perkins in Great Bend, Kansas. She survives.

An area resident since he was sixteen, Gary was an entrepreneur, 
working in many areas, including as the owner of Eazy Street for 20 
years. He was a fan of St. Patrick’s Day as well as all things 
cars/racing. He was a classic car enthusiast, loved NASCAR races, and 
racing motorcycles, with his leathers on display at the Kansas 
Motorcycle Museum.

Survivors include his wife of the home; four stepchildren, Larry 
Milford of Manhattan, Robert Cagle of Great Bend, Wendee Keenan of Great
 Bend, and Robin (John) Bastion of Harrisonville, Missouri; nine 
grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Karla (Larry) 
Espinosa of Great Bend. He is preceded in death by his parents.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A 
celebration of life and inurnment will be held at a later date. 
Memorials have been designated to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in 
care of Bryant Funeral Home.

Phyllis Jean Metcalf

Gary Laverne Brack, 66, passed away December 15, 2022, at his home in
 Wichita. He was born on November 5, 1956, in Great Bend, to Daylon and 
Roberta (Spitzmiller) Brack. He married Charla Geier and they later 
divorced. He then married Mary (Richmond) and they later divorced also.

A Wichita resident since 1974, Gary grew up and graduated from Great 
Bend High School. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and spending time with his
 family.

Survivors include, his children, Lavenia Winter of Calif., Lance 
Gawthrop of Tenn., Makishia Ginyard and Shaunta Gawthrop, both of 
Wichita; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; his sister, Cathy 
Vonfeldt and two nephews, Jason Vonfeldt and wife Jennifer and Jared 
Vonfeldt, all of Great Bend. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, from noon to 8:00 p.m., 
with family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. Funeral service 
will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Bryant Funeral
 Home, with Rev. Daniel Vandenburg presiding. Interment will follow in 
Hillcrest Memorial Park, Great Bend.

Donald C. 'Papa Don' Maline

We are very sad to announce the passing of Jackie Jean Goetz on December 13, 2022 in Kingsland, TX where she moved her residence this past year to be with family.

Jackie was born to Leo and Bertha Dwinelle in Fairport, KS on May 30, 1936. She married Donald Adair Goetz on October 9, 1954. Don worked overseas in the oilfield. He and Jackie spent many years raising their children in England, Holland, Malaysia, Singapore, and Iran. Upon returning to the states, Don and Jackie settled in Hallettsville, TX in 1977 where they started their own oilfield vacuum trucking business, Goetz Service. Jackie enjoyed gardening and was a great bowler, card, and domino player with a strong competitive spirit. Her family enjoyed many years visiting at her home with some great cooking followed by cards and dominos. She loved country music and always had the radio tuned in to the local station. When you came to visit, that was the first thing you would hear playing in the garage. She was a kind and gentle person. A quiet soft spoken sweet woman with a great sense of humor that you couldn’t help, but love. Jackie always put her family first. She was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who will be truly missed.

Jackie was preceeded in death by her husband, Donald A. Goetz; son, Donald G. Goetz; son, David A. Goetz.

Jackie is survived by her daughter, Jaylene Franke (husband Melvin Perryman) of Cypress, TX; daughter, Janna Johnson (husband Craig Johnson) of Kingsland, TX; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.

Per her wishes, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in her honor.

Jackie’s future and final resting place will be in Russell, Kansas.

 2022. He was born November 26, 1950, in Pratt, KS to Raymond and 
Maxine Lois Pence.

He worked as a painter for Tom Miller Painting for 30 plus years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; Robert Ray Pence, and Tim Pence, and a sister; Sandy Wright.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 18 years, though they were 
together for 43 years; Marla J. Pence, his daughter, Christine “Chris” 
(John) Taddiken of Salina, his son; David (Pam) Albright of Ellis, and 
Tim Brown of Salina, a brother; Bill (Tammy) Pence of Alta Vista, 4 
sisters; Charlene (Jerry) Zelenka of Wilson, Vicki Frost of Sudek, 
Jackie (Henry) Martinez of Minneapolis, and Dawn Dearing of Ellsworth, 2
 grandsons; Justin Taddiken of KC, MO., and Dillon Taddiken and 
significant other; Macie Powell of Salina, 2 sister-in-laws; Sharon 
Pence and Marge Pence, and a brother-in-law Rusty Wright, plus numerous 
nieces and nephews.

James Matthew Pence

David “DJ” Joseph Dean Jr., 32, passed away December 12, 2022, in Osborne, KS.

David was born October 23, 1990, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Diane Dean Davis and David Dean Sr.

He worked at Tyson Foods in Lexington, NE for several years before working at Great Plains Manufacturing in Tipton, KS.

David’s
 greatest joy was his 3 boys.  In the summer, you could often see them 
at the playground or splash pad.  He enjoyed long walks, fishing, and 
was a fan of several sport teams.

David is survived by 
his wife Zandra Dean (married January 28th, 2015); 3 sons Matthew, Mark 
and Paul; Parents Diane and Paul Davis; David and Tina Dean Sr., Sister 
Danielle Barber and husband Ricky; Half Brother Cody Dean; 2 Step 
Sisters and 4 Step Brothers; Grandparents:  Gwedolyn Webster and Rodney 
Vierhile; Albert and Marguerite Dean; Aunts and Uncles:  Debbie and Ray 
Bryan, David Webster, Merriane Dean, Brenda Arvizu, Taylor and John 
Marsh; 7 Cousins; and&nbsp;&nbsp;7 Great Aunts and Uncles.

David 'DJ' Joseph Dean Jr.

Ivan R. Edsall, age 76 of Victoria, Kansas, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Brookdale Assisted Living Center of Salina.

He was born October 19, 1946, at Hays, Kansas, to Theron C. and Anna Barbara (Weber) Edsall. &nbsp;He married Kathleen Ann (Braun)-Spiess {his favorite fishing partner} on March 23, 1996, at Hays, Kansas. &nbsp;She preceded him in death on December 16, 2017.

He retired from Dreiling Oil of Victoria, Kansas, in 2018, as production foreman. &nbsp;He worked for Dreiling Oil for over 45 years, and prior to the oil division he worked on the Dreiling’s farm for ten years. &nbsp;Ivan grew up on the family farm North of Victoria, was a graduate of Victoria High School, and a member of The Basilica of St. Fidelis.

Survivors include his stepchildren, Jason Spiess, Paradise, KS; Kelly Wellbrock and husband, Brett, Salina, KS; Melanie Dennis and husband, Travis, Salina, KS; his step grandchildren, Sophia,&nbsp;Gage, and&nbsp;Jace&nbsp;Spiess; &nbsp;Carson and Julia Wellbrock; James and&nbsp;Michael Dennis; and his four legged friend, Coco.

Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Anna;&nbsp;his wife, Kathy;&nbsp;his brothers, Frank and Daniel Edsall. &nbsp;

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, December 22, 2022, at The Basilica of St. Fidelis, Victoria, Kansas with Father James Moster O.F.M. Cap. &nbsp;officiation. &nbsp;Inurnment will be in &nbsp;St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria, Kansas.

Barbara Ann Frizell, 97, died December 15, 2022, at Wesley Towers 
Hester Care Center. She was born June 13, 1925, in Augusta, KS, the 
daughter of Ralph and Louise (Meeke) Varner.

Barb had a wonderful childhood growing up in Augusta and Wichita.&nbsp; 
She was a graduate of Wichita East High School and graduated from the 
University of Kansas in 1947.

In 1953, Barb married Edward E. "Bud" Frizell, of Larned, KS, in Wichita.&nbsp; He died May 29, 2002.

She loved her life and friends in Hutchinson and was an active member
 of Junior League, PEO Chapter BL, Pi Beta Phi Sorority Alumni, and 
Grace Episcopal Church.

Barb is survived by:&nbsp; her sons, Edward E. ‘Trip’ (Allison) Frizell, 
Jeff (Karen) Frizell; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by:&nbsp; her husband, Bud; parents; and sister, Mary Warwick.

Barbara Ann Frizell

Melba  Domoney, 96, passed away December 15, 2022.

She was born in  Oakley, Kansas, on May 31, 1926, the daughter of John and Mary (Dufton) Whiting.  Melba graduated from Downs High School and the University of Kansas.  She married John S. Domoney on June 13, 1948. They were blessed to become the proud parents of three sons: Duff, Darcy, and Dewey.  John &amp; Melba were co-owners of the family business, Domoney’s Furniture and Funeral Home for many years.  Melba worked at the State Bank of Downs and then devoted her time to being a full time wife and mother.  John and Melba celebrated 53 years of marriage before his death in 2001. They took over 30 trips to places such as Ireland, Alaska, Hawaii, as well as other parts of the United States and Europe.

She was very dedicated in attending her children’s and grandchildren’s school and sports activities.

Over the years, Melba diligently visited local nursing home residents, wrote letters and sent sympathy, birthday, and get well cards to many people until her vision became impaired. For many years, her daily walks included carrying a bag to pick up trash along her route.

Melba was a loyal and dedicated KU Jayhawk fan!

Melba was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, as well as a member of Quest Club, Senior Center, and enjoyed her bridge clubs.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John; sister, Betty Eaton

Duff and wife, Myrna Domoney of Bixby, Oklahoma Darcy Domoney (Nancy Mathis) of Leawood, Kansas Dewey Domoney (Kim Davis)of Downs, Kansas 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Shelby Andrews, 83, died December 13, 2022, at Brookdale Senior Living
 Center in Dodge City. She was born on December 15, 1938, at Colorado 
Springs, Colorado, the daughter of Howard and Martina Betz. &nbsp;

She married Gerald Gene Schwien on October 12, 1957, in Ness City; he 
preceded her in death on November 14, 1961. She then married Carrol Neal 
McCain on June 5, 1965, in Ness City; he preceded her in death on 
December 6, 1994. She later married Don G. Andrews on October 23, 1997,&nbsp; in Branson, Missouri; he preceded her in death on July 11, 2017. Mrs. 
Andrews loved spending time with her family especially her 
grandchildren. She also loved to keep a very clean and tidy home. Mrs. 
Andrews always looked forward to a great day of shopping.

She was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

She is survived by two sons Troy McCain and wife Sarah of Dodge City;
 Rory Schwien and wife Theresa of Denver, Colorado. She is also survived
 by her seven grandchildren Megan, Melanie, Tanner, McKenzie, Creighton,
 Cecilia and Sierra. Mrs. Andrews is also survived by four great 
grandchildren Zayne, Avery, Rhylie and Kaysone.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three husbands Gerald 
Gene Schwien, Carrol McCain and Don Andrews and one sister Shiela McBee.

Funeral Mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Monday 
December 19, 2022, at 1:30 PM with Rev. John Stang presiding.&nbsp; Burial 
will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in Dodge City. Visitation will be

Amy Lynne Zwickle was born June 21, 1967, in Ellsworth, KS. The 
daughter of Wayne and Phyllis (Pacey) Zwickle, Amy was one of God's 
angels on earth. Whether it’s a person with Down syndrome being 
compared to an angel or angels being people with Down syndrome, angels 
are linked to Down syndrome like peanut butter is to jelly! Amy gained 
her Heavenly wings on December 2, 2022, at the age of 55 at Decatur 
Health in Oberlin, KS.

There were many things Amy 
loved. Jesus – she did Bible study on her own at least once a week but 
usually more. Singing – she sang at her Church (The United Church of 
Oberlin) several times and brought tears to the congregation because of 
her voice and the fact you could tell she meant what she was singing. 
Her favorite song to sing at Church was Chris Tomlin's “I Will Rise."&nbsp; She also was a country music fan. Although her dad was a Chief's fan, 
Amy chose the Dallas Cowboys mainly because she loved cheerleading and 
she loved to watch the girls try out for the squad. Amy pretty much 
loved everything about life oh, except liver and onions and soup!

Amy
 attended schools in Oberlin (OES), Atwood (Beamgard Learning Center, 
Atwood High School), Greeley, Colorado (Greeley West HS and she took a 
Hospitality Careers course at the University of Northern Colorado). Amy
 received her DCHS High School Diploma in 1989 through Beamgard Learning
 Center. She took part in the Special Olympics for many years and 
earned many awards in Cheerleading and bowling.

 was preceded in death by her dad: Wayne A. Zwickle; grandparents: 
Walter and Lora Zwickle and Leslie and Anita Pacey; aunts: Phyllis 
Nicholson and Irene Pacey; cousins: Ed Pacey and Randy Nicholson.&nbsp;&nbsp;Left

Gary Gene DeBey was born on October 16, 1947, in Beloit, Kansas, the 
son of Gene and Thelma Fenton DeBey. He died on Tuesday, December 13,

He grew up in the Mitchell County area, where he attended schools.

family, as well as amateur radio. He was a life member of the American

Gary Gene DeBey

Charles Newell Eberle was born on September 16, 1929, on a farm in 
Jewell County, Kansas, the son of Charlie Earl and Violet Gish Eberle. 
He died Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas 
at the age of 93.

He grew up around Glen Elder, and graduated from Glen Elder High 
School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army from 
October 1950 to October 1952.

On February 28, 1952, he was united in marriage with Gayle Louise 
Moran. Four children were born to this union, Steven Charles, Dana 
Gayle, Kurtis Earl, and Kelly Rae. They were privileged to spend more 
than 25 years of marriage together when she died in December, 1977.

On August 2, 1980, he was united in marriage with Luella Maud 
Gilbert, and they spent more than 26 years of marriage together when she
 died in February, 2007.

Charles worked for Farmway COOP at the Glen Elder Elevator until 
January 1975 before moving to Norton to manage the COOP Elevator. He 
later managed the COOP Elevator in Natoma before moving back to the Glen
 Elder area in 1981, managing several elevators until his retirement. 
Following his retirement, he dedicated his time raising llamas, sheep, 
and goats on his farm in Glen Elder. He enjoyed taking his llamas to 
petting zoos, fairs, and parades. He also loved history, and was always 
known as the family historian after his Uncle Leo passed away.

He was an active member of the American Legion, Christian Church, 
Order of the Eastern Star, and the Masonic Lodge in Glen Elder.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, sons, Steven and Kurtis, and son-in-law, Kevin Lyon.

Charles is survived by his daughters, Dana Madden and husband 
Barry, and Kelly Lyon, and daughter-in-law, Lisa, all of Norton; 
step-daughters, Valerie Thrasher and husband Pat of Salina and Krystal 
Schwenn and husband Larry of Kensington; brother, Lowell Eberle of 
Lawrence; 8 grandchildren, Heath and Sherry Eberle of Little River, 
Heather LaRocque of Westmoreland, Aaron and Andrea Eberle of Glen Elder,
 Casey Madden of Norton, Clay Madden of Norton, Dakota Eberle of Garden 
City, Chelsey and Tom Huber of Norton, and Tosha and Kyle Kats of 
Norton; 2 step-grandsons; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 
great-great-grandchildren, and one on the way; and many relatives and 
friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 PM Tuesday, December 20, at the Glen 
Elder Christian Church. Visitation with family present will be from 5-7 
PM Monday, December 19 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may
 be given to the Glen Elder American Legion or the Andbe Home of Norton.

Charles Newell Eberle was born on September 16, 1929, on a farm in 
Jewell County, Kansas, the son of Charlie Earl and Violet Gish Eberle. 
He died Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas 
at the age of 93.He grew up around Glen Elder, and graduated from Glen Elder High 
School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Army from 
October 1950 to October 1952.On February 28, 1952, he was united in marriage with Gayle Louise 
Moran. Four children were born to this union, Steven Charles, Dana 
Gayle, Kurtis Earl, and Kelly Rae. They were privileged to spend more 
than 25 years of marriage together when she died in December, 1977.On August 2, 1980, he was united in marriage with Luella Maud 
Gilbert, and they spent more than 26 years of marriage together when she
 died in February, 2007.Charles worked for Farmway COOP at the Glen Elder Elevator until 
January 1975 before moving to Norton to manage the COOP Elevator. He 
later managed the COOP Elevator in Natoma before moving back to the Glen
 Elder area in 1981, managing several elevators until his retirement. 
Following his retirement, he dedicated his time raising llamas, sheep, 
and goats on his farm in Glen Elder. He enjoyed taking his llamas to 
petting zoos, fairs, and parades. He also loved history, and was always 
known as the family historian after his Uncle Leo passed away.He was an active member of the American Legion, Christian Church,

Charles Newell Eberle

Marius Rossouw, 54, passed away on December 14, 2022, at Russell 
Regional Hospital, Russell, Kan. He was born on May 25, 1968, in Cape 
Town, South Africa, to Frederick and Hester (Kühn). On December 21, 
2002, he married Cleo Jarvis in Cape Town, South Africa. She survives.

A resident of the area for the past fourteen years, Marius worked as a
 truck driver for Befort Trucking and previously did custom cutting. He 
was a hard worker and dedicated to working and raising his family.

Survivors include his wife of the home; five sons, Marnus (Justine) 
Van Meyeren of Cape Town, South Africa, and Charl (Dawn) Van Meyeren of 
Phoenix, Ariz.; Brandon Rossouw of Cape Town, South Africa, Clinton 
(Christie) Rossouw of Great Bend, and Ryan Rossouw of Great Bend; five 
grandchildren, Salem, Tegan, Eben, Chrismarie, and Karla; his parents of
 Cape Town, South Africa; a brother, Frederick (Tracey) Rossouw of 
Phillipsburg, Kan.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Funeral 
service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at Bryant 
Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Foster presiding. 

Memorials have been 
designated to the Children’s Education Fund, in care of Bryant Funeral 
Home.

Marius Rossouw

Bradley Wayne Sjoholm, 41, of Quinter, Kansas, passed away on December 12, 2022, with&nbsp;immediate family at bedside after complications due to organ failure.

Brad was born on July 18, 1981, in Hoisington, Kansas, to John and Judy (Harris) Sjoholm.

Brad always had a smile on his face and was generous with his time, hard work, and his huge heart. He enjoyed the outdoors, tinkering with machinery, working with his hands, and being&nbsp;with friends and family. Brad had a tender heart for those he loved and a strong love for all&nbsp;animals.

He attended elementary school in Hoisington and completed his education in Hays, Kansas.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Aunt Suzi Gruber, and cousin Jeff Hopp.Graveside services will be held at Elim Lutheran Cemetery in Marquette, KS, at a future date.Memorials can be sent to the Humane Society of the High Plains, Hays, KS.
