KDWP launches new online licensing system: Go Outdoors Kansas

As work continues to organize and catalog the entire collection of the Ellis County Historical Society, its board of trustees voted this week to save the former Presbyterian Church at the corner of Main and Seventh.

The future of the building had remained a point of debate for the organization after the last permanent director, Lee Dobratz, unveiled a plan in 2019 that would have seen the building demolished and replaced with a new structure on the society’s grounds.

That plan was estimated to cost over $14 million and presented a solution to<a href="https://archive.hayspost.com/2019/07/31/ellis-county-historical-society-museum-closing-temporarily/"> replace the deteriorating facility wrought with water damage and mold after it was closed to the public in June of 2019.</a>

First, it is working to bring the society’s entire collection back together in one location. And then the process of cataloging, sorting and removing items with little historical significance to the county begins.</a>

But until the board’s vote Monday, the church building’s future remained uncertain.

“They’ve decided that we are going to keep the building, and we are going to start a campaign to renovate it and utilize it,” Rupp said.

The action reflects the overwhelming desire of the community to save the building.

“One board member puts it; 'There’s a lot more community support behind that project than to tear down and build something new for the historical society,' ” Rupp said.

She also said that revitalizing the building was “a little bit more doable” than the larger-scale plans presented in 2019. 

Now that the building’s future is secure, Rupp said efforts to find funding for the project would begin.

“We’re going to start working on a capital campaign that we hope to launch at the end of the summer,” she said.

<a href="https://archive.hayspost.com/2019/07/31/ellis-county-historical-society-museum-closing-temporarily/">While the effort is new, the current board and staff members will benefit from the work of earlier efforts to mitigate the building’s damage.</a>

“The prior boards have done a lot of the footwork,” Rupp said. “They’ve done feasibility studies. So we know exactly — from reputable architect companies and mediation companies — what needs to be done and close to what dollar amounts needed to happen there.

“We’ve got half of the work done for us.”

<a href="https://hayspost.com/posts/36713cde-0b98-41e4-b09f-e7091c8c0460">As the bigger plan comes into focus, she said an anonymous donation would help renovate enough space in the building for offices, allowing staff to work on-site. Currently, the society’s offices are in the Eagle Plaza, 1011 W. 27th.</a>

“We’d like to be at home, and not necessarily open to the public, in that red brick building,” Rupp said. “We can be there on-site to have the gallery in the stone church open more often if we have our offices on site.”

And as the future of the facility solidifies, staff continues the effort to catalog the collection, using a new computer system Rupp proposed in February.

Rupp said that board members raised the $10,000 price tag for the system in only three months.

“We have new computers in place, and the new software system is being combined with our old data,” she said. “And we’re going to start moving on entering some of our collections this summer.”

Also, this summer, the society’s stone church will be open to the public to display the George Sternberg firearms collection —&nbsp;for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Rupp said the collection has been in storage since it was transferred to the society when the Sternberg Museum shifted to focus on natural history and moved to its current location in 1999.

“This collection is magnificent,” she said. “He’s collected from all over the world.”

The exhibition will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

A model of Fort Hays that was previously on display at Historic Fort Hays will also be on display.

“If you are an Ellis County Society member, you get in for free,” Rupp said. “If you are not, there is an entry fee of $10. And children under 12 years old are free. But you can always buy a membership when you walk in the door. So, you and your wife and your children can all get in for free all summer long for $25 instead of $10 apiece.”

However, this Saturday, the society plans to waive the entrance fee as they kick off the summer.

“I really encourage people to come and look, even if you’re not into guns or weapons,” Rupp said. “It’s an impressive collection. There’s going to be over 300 pieces on display and some rare pieces.”

🎙As reorganization continues, Ellis County Historical Society votes to save historic church

The best evidence of this philosophy can be witnessed at the annual&nbsp;Fischli’s&nbsp;Excellence in Higher Education annual banquet, hosted by the Fort Hays Honor Society. Students gather to celebrate, thank, and honor the faculty and staff members who made Fort Hays State a remarkable experience. It is indeed one of my favorite events. I always leave&nbsp;there&nbsp;joyful and thankful for our incredible faculty and staff who care so deeply for our students.

This year was no exception. The keynote speaker, Dr. David Fitzhugh, gave a heartfelt presentation on connecting with students. Every Monday morning, Dr. Fitzhugh, associate professor of health and human performance, asks his students about their weekend. He creates an environment where everyone connects with one another and shares about their life. He also takes time to notice when someone doesn’t appear to “be themselves” and reaches out to them in private.

Dr. Fitzhugh shared a beautiful story of a student who started to withdraw. The professor noticed. He followed up. It made a difference. A couple of years after that student graduated and went on to have a successful career, she wrote Dr. Fitzhugh a letter to let him know the deep impact his outreach had on her life during a very difficult time.&nbsp;

During the banquet dinner, I marveled at the genuine exchange among the people at my table – two faculty members and five students. Ken&nbsp;Windholz, instructor of psychology, was talking with&nbsp;Jozlyn&nbsp;Brown, a student who commutes from Russell. Part of their conversation was about texting for clarification on assignments and class materials. I mentioned how amazed I was that the students had their faculty members’ cell phone numbers. The students at the table indicated they had the cell phone numbers of many of their professors.

Also at my table was Dr. Emily Weber, an instructor of biological sciences.&nbsp;Windholz&nbsp;shared how impressed he was with Dr. Weber’s ability and dedication to learn the names of every student. He shared that she arrived early to her classes, stood at the door, and greeted every student by name. Each of her classes had between 35 and 48 students. Another student shared that she had Dr. Weber for one class and enthusiastically agreed how special her daily greetings were. The next semester, this student bumped into Dr. Weber, who greeted her by name and asked her how she was doing. Extraordinary!

And then there was the story of Dr. Robert Lloyd, assistant professor of management. The fact that he teaches management is even more significant to this account. Apparently, in Dr. Lloyd’s class, there is a final paper due. Then, on the scheduled exam day, students gather in the class. Their final exam is to name every student in the class and say something you learned about each one. That is what I call modeling the way. I love that!

Story after story, students talked about how faculty and staff nurtured a sense of belonging and how that feeling of mattering helped them succeed at Fort Hays State. Our faculty facilitate relationships that intentionally create environments to prepare them for a truly prosperous future.&nbsp;

Because our engagement with each student matters deeply to us, we deliver a high-value education based on responsiveness, positivity, and kindness. That is Fort Hays State University.

KDHE now reports updated case numbers weekly on Wednesdays.

KDHE: 9 new COVID cases in Ellis Co. in past week

In a news release issued Tuesday evening, Ellis County Attorney Robert Anderson announced he was declining to pursue election bribery charges against Hays USD 489 Superintendent Ron Wilson.

Wilson was investigated by the Ellis County Sheriff's Office after issuing a <a href="https://hayspost.com/posts/806cd3a8-3850-49a6-9c3b-5931d344a290">staff-wide email offering lunch to every USD 489 building with 100 percent voter turnout — and dessert to the first to do so.</a>

As the
Ellis County Attorney, I am not required to provide this statement. However, I
recognize that as the Ellis County Attorney I have been entrusted with a great
deal of discretionary authority and with that, an immense responsibility. There
has been a great deal of public attention and concern surrounding allegations
that USD 489 Superintendent Ron Wilson committed “Election Bribery” in
violation of K.S.A. 2020 Supp. 25-2409, a severity level 7 non-person felony. There
were also many alleged instances of “Electioneering” (illegal placement of
signs) in violation of K.S.A. 25-2430 on both sides of the bond issue. It is my
intention to address those concerns now.

Unfortunately,
we live in a time where we are very divided politically. Community, friendship,
and family bonds are all too often dissolved as a consequence of political
divisiveness. Elections and political issues are fraught with passion. Despite
the best of intentions, we say and do things in support of our position without
carefully considering the consequences . . . because these issues are important
to us. Because acting and speaking for what we believe in is fundamental to who
we are as Americans and as Kansans. It’s patriotic to vote, debate, challenge
others, and to act when our values are questioned or challenged. It’s patriotic
to encourage others to fulfill their civic duty to vote. But, according to a
strict interpretation of our “Election Bribery” statute, there’s a thin line between
conduct that is patriotic and conduct that is criminal.

Under
K.S.A. 25-2409, “Election Bribery”, it is a severity level 7 non-person felony
crime if you confer, offer or agree to confer, or solicit, accept, or agree to
accept any benefit as consideration to vote (generally); it is the same crime
(and same punishment) if you confer, offer or agree to confer, or solicit,
accept, or agree to accept any benefit as consideration to vote specifically
for or against a particular candidate or issue. The latter is objectively more
criminal than the former, yet they are the same under this statute.&nbsp;

Similarly,
when talking about value equal to or greater than $3.00, the crime is the same
regardless of the value. Objectively, it is less serious to offer someone something
valued at $3.00 to go out and vote (generally – not for a particular candidate
or issue) versus offering someone $1,000.00 to vote for a specific candidate or
issue. Yet, they are the same crime and punishment under this statute.

The strict
letter of the law seemingly criminalizes more conduct than what was probably
originally targeted, and that becomes more apparent when examining all the
election crimes in Chapter 25. Of the thirty election crimes statutes, “Election
Bribery” and “Bribe Accepted by an Elected Official” are the two most serious
election crimes in Kansas.

“Election
Bribery” is more serious than: voting more than once, bribing an elected
official, intimidating voters, tampering with the election, voting without
being qualified, election forgery, election perjury, possessing false or forged
election supplies, voter machine fraud, election fraud by an election officer,
electioneering, and corrupt political advertising . . . just to name a few.

I have a
duty to prioritize the efforts of my office and maximize community safety. I
cannot justify prosecuting Superintendent Ron Wilson, or any recipients of the
email who “agreed to accept value” for “Election Bribery” because it will come
at the cost of diverting time and resources away from prosecution of sexual
assaults, homicides, child abuse &amp; neglect, aggravated batteries, aggravated
assaults, drug distribution crimes, burglaries, and other very serious matters
that have a major impact on community safety. As such, concerning the
allegations against Superintendent Ron Wilson, others who may have “agreed to
accept value” to vote, and those who may have committed acts of “Electioneering”,
I will take no action at this time.

Much needed and mostly welcome rain continued to fall in Hays Tuesday.

The official measurement from the K-State Agricultural Research Center south of town was 1.85 inches the past 24 hours, until 9 a.m. Wednesday.

May's average moisture total yield is 3.24 inches. With a week still left in the month, Hays has already received 4.73 inches of rain.

The 153-year cumulative annual average has also been met, nearly.

By the end of May, Hays normally gets 7.81 inches of mixed moisture. Today's total stands at 7.78 inches.

Moisture gap closes as Hays get nearly 2 inches of rain in 24 hours

Continuing a legacy brought to Fort Hays State University in 2016, Hispanic high school students from across Kansas and beyond will converge on campus for the Hispanic College Institute.

The four-day event from June 1 to 4 helps incoming high school juniors and seniors learn about college life and enrollment and engage with Hispanic leaders.

“It’s an event to help Hispanic students — first-generation students — kind of get their feet wet with college,” said Fort Hays State University Assistant Director of Admissions Hugo Perez.

During this year’s free four-day, three-night residential camp, he said students would experience life on campus — something crucial for first-generation college students.

“We could talk all day about how getting them to campus is the biggest part of it,” said Carolyn Tatro, Fort Hays State University Alumni Association engagement strategist. But she said guiding them toward having the resources to succeed in their academic endeavors is critical.

“It’s really just a way to get everybody kind of involved in here,” she said. “You can do this. Whether you have the resources or you feel like you have the resources, we want to help you find those resources. And whether you end up at Fort Hays or a community college or a bigger school. We just want you to be successful. And there are ways to do that, and we want to help you.”

“Ultimately, our goal is to get students to attend post-secondary education,” Perez said. “We’ve had students, we have got a ton of students that have come to Fort Hays. We have had many that have attended community colleges and then transferred to Fort Hays. We’ve had students go to Wichita State, Kansas State. We had one that attended that went to Stanford. So, I guess it’s just an ultimate goal is to get them exposed to higher education.”

But if they choose FHSU, all the better, he said.

As much as the program is about university life, attendees will also have the opportunity to explore the community.

“When it comes to life here in Hays, America, we’ll get them around town,” Perez said. “The Convention Visitors Bureau has done great things with us and helping do tours. We get them all over town so they can see what Hays and Fort Hays has to offer for them.”

Since the program began six years ago, first-year attendees are now making their way out of college and into the workforce. As that happens, those experiences and the connections made at the institute prove valuable, Tatro said.

“During this event, a lot of former students who can come talk about their experience, and they’re truly all from different backgrounds, and their family lives were very different as well,” she said.

“We’ve already had a few students who had graduated, that had been part of the program that graduated the past two years, that have come back actually to talk as those young alums,” Perez said. “It’s a really neat avenue for them to be able to see that whole gamut for them.”

Those generational relationships also create the opportunity for long-term guidance as the latest group of attendees makes their way into college and beyond.

“It gives those students the possibility of having mentors, as well,” Perez said.

FHSU Hispanic College Institute helps first-generation college students find success

St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 2900 Canal Blvd., will hold a "service of healing" at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, following the mass shooting on Tuesday in Uvalde, Texas. "This service is offered to anyone who desires to pray — for those whose lives have been taken, those who are injured,&nbsp; those whose lives have been altered forever, those living in fear and despair, for our nation, for this broken world ... and for all of us, whose hearts are broken," Pastor Shay Craig said. Hays prayer service scheduled after mass shooting in Texas

TOPEKA — Governor Laura Kelly Monday ceremonially signed bipartisan House Bill 2239, which provides sales and property tax relief to Kansans impacted by natural disasters. 

The measure includes a sales tax exemption for agricultural fencing and empowers county commissions to abate property taxes when the governor has declared a disaster and properties or homesteads have been damaged. In addition to these measures, the underlying legislation provides property tax relief by increasing the property tax exemption on all residential properties and providing a property tax refund for seniors and veterans.&nbsp;&nbsp;

“When disaster strikes, Kansans need help getting back on their feet,” Kelly said.&nbsp;“Cutting taxes provides financial relief for farmers and ranchers impacted by wildfires and other natural disasters as they recover their property and livelihoods.”&nbsp;

For the <a href="https://kansasreflector.com/2021/12/20/ball-of-rolling-fire-and-smoke-wildfires-rip-through-north-central-kansas/">fires</a> that occurred in December 2021, farmers and ranchers who are continuing to replace fencing on their pasture will be able to take advantage of the exemption. For those who have already replaced their fencing, they will be eligible for a refund. After July 1, 2022, a sales tax exemption to repair or replace fencing on agricultural land becomes permanent.&nbsp;

Bill cutting taxes for victims of 4-County Fire signed by governor

PHILLIPSBURG — Tickets for Kansas Biggest Rodeo will go on sale online on June 1 at 8 am. The rodeo takes place August 4-6 in Phillipsburg.&nbsp;

They will be available online <a href="https://www.rodeoticket.com/rodeos/kansas-biggest-rodeo/2022/tickets">HERE</a>.

Tickets will go on sale in person at Heritage Insurance (685 Third Street, Phillipsburg) on July 1.&nbsp;

This year’s rodeo features a new rodeo clown and a new specialty act.

Rodeo clown Matt Merritt will provide the comedy and work the barrel during the bull riding. Merritt, of Olin, N.C., works PBR events as well as pro rodeos.

Bobby Kerr will entertain as specialty act. Often referred to as the Mustang Man, Kerr has trained mustangs to work at liberty and jump over his car. His trained dogs also get in on the act with the mustangs. Kerr participated in two seasons of the Mustang Makeover (2011-12) and finished in the top five with every horse he trained.&nbsp;

The committee strives to get good entertainment for the rodeo, said Ricky Solida, committeeman. “We try to hire the best contractors and the best clowns and bullfighters that are in the industry.”&nbsp;

Bullfighters Dusty Tuckness and Weston Rutkowski return, as does Beutler and Son Rodeo Co. as stock contractor. Randy Corley will announce the action.&nbsp;

Child’s tickets are discounted for the Thursday, August 4 rodeo. All kids ages 10 and under are free with the purchase of an adult ticket.&nbsp;

General admission tickets for August 4 are $17 for adults and $13 for children (ages 11-12). General admission tickets for August 5-6 are $18 for adults and $13 for children ages 3-12.

Reserved admission tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children ages 3-12.&nbsp;

Slack, the extra competition that doesn’t fit into the performances, will be held at 7 pm on August 1-2. It is free.

The rib barbecue for associate members will take place on August 2 beginning at 6 pm at the rodeo grounds. Associate memberships are $125 and will be available for purchase in mid-June at First National Bank, Cliff’s Welding, Matteson Motor, and any rodeo committee member.&nbsp;

Tickets on sale next month for Phillipsburg rodeo

By GREG DOERING Kansas Farm Bureau I recently saw my first copperhead of the year while out trying to catch some pre-spawn bass at a farm pond. Initially I thought it was a snapping turtle poking its head above the water before I caught a glimpse of the telltale oscillation of the more sinister reptile. As is usually the case when I encounter a serpent in the wild, the old adage that it’s just as afraid of me as I am of it proved laughably false. If that held true, the two-foot reptile would have turned around when the first rock splashed near its head. Instead, it kept slithering closer to the bank where I stood. Clearly my dislike for this creature wasn’t reciprocated. It paid me no mind as it settled onto a rock about 30 yards away were it began basking in the sun. I resumed casting a lure into the water while keeping an eye on the danger coiled up a short distance away. Our interaction continued with me being vigilant on the snake’s whereabouts, while it regarded me with extreme indifference. It eventually warmed up enough to slither back into the water and across the pond. I took the opportunity to walk back to my tacklebox, keeping my eyes fixed on the ground for signs of another visitor. I safely fetched my gear and went on my way without seeing another serpent, but there were a few suspicious looking sticks that helped quicken my retreat. All of this fear is, of course, illogical. There’s no shortage of statistics detailing the just how unlikely my demise will come at the fangs of a snake. Of the several thousand people bitten each year, only about a dozen deaths are recorded. The venom in the native snakes of Kansas — three varieties of rattlers and the aforementioned copperhead — also is relatively mild according to the people who judge these things. By mild, I mean the venom will cause excruciating pain instead of killing you, which isn’t enough to overcome the strong desire for self-preservation. So, there’s an evolutionary case to be made for the illogical reactions being completely rational. I also learned a healthy amount of fear from family members. My grandfather once mistook a coil of hose for a black snake when spraying cattle in the corral. He raced across the pen and up a fencepost before warning the rest of us about the alleged intruder. While the rest of us found the situation quite comical, we also knew it could have been any of us fleeing in panic. I’ve stumbled over myself more than once after hearing a rattle in tall grass only to see a cicada fly off. Whether innate or learned, the fear is real. I spent a decent portion of my youth trying to imitate St. Patrick and eradicate snakes in my portion of the world. Blacksnakes, bull-snakes and other nonvenomous relatives were left alone to deal with vermin around the outbuildings, but even the sight of them would set my heart racing. The closest encounter I’ve ever had with any snake is when I was about 10 or so and stepped on a water snake while crossing a pond dam. I can still recall the squish under my boot in a way that gives me shivers. Once again, I was more bothered by our encounter than the snake. At least I pretended to be scared, what with my gasping and lurching and stumbling backward away from mortal danger. The snake barely lifted its head to flick its tongue in my direction. The one thing I haven’t managed over all these years is to develop a good sense of not going to the same places I regularly encounter snakes. I’m relying on a good pair of boots, long pants and the apparent apathy serpents have for my existence to keep me safe in the pastures, ponds and creeks over the Plains.

KRUG: Review bicycle safety rules with young riders​

Through the year’s agriculture, conservation and overall land management has gone through phases with each phase having its’ buzzwords, promoters, detractors, research objectives - well, you get the point. Some promoters will always feel like they’ve just unleashed the silver bullet to cure all the planet’s woes. Spoiler alert, none of them have! For the most part each phase has brought some improvements and certainly more tools for farmers, ranchers and land managers to consider and use. But no one is the cure all panacea that will work for everyone.

The newest buzzword is “soil health”. Soil health is a broad category for a lot of different things that are actually quite important. In searching for a good definition of soil health, and there are many out there. I found some that were way out there. Others were restrictive and may work for certain soils in certain ecosystems, some were very vague. Many definitions were tailored for a very specific form of agriculture, i.e. no-till, organic, natural, etc.

One of the top choices came from the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) at USDA. Quoting from their web site, “Soil health, also referred to as soil quality, is defined as the continued capacity of soil to function as a vital living ecosystem that sustains plants, animals, and humans.” They go on to point out that soil isn’t just some sterile rooting medium but is rather a living functioning ecosystem of its’ own.

Many people don’t realize how alive soil is! There is so much life in the soil, much of it invisible to the naked eye. Bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and many other organisms make up a valuable part of the soil mass and we often only see hints of it.

Mt. St. Helens volcano that blew in 1980 changed the landscape. Twenty-nine years later when a colleague of mine visited it, what he saw was “just scattered plants starting to grow, much of it looked like the landscape of a

barren planet”. When that volcano erupted it flash fried all living things and then buried it under feet, tens of feet, of ash. There was instantly a sterile environment. If a seed fell, that sterile medium was missing all those soil organisms that make plant life possible. We cannot underestimate the impact, the necessity of soil organisms!

In the end, defining soil health is fairly easy. Measuring it is another story however. There are many soil organisms that have not been discovered yet, that are important, or we know they are there but we don’t know what they do. We truly have so much we need to learn. Perhaps the best measure of soil health is by how well plants grow, by how productive the soil is, or by how sustainable the practices. Soil health is likely something we measure indirectly.

Soil health can, and does, change over time. How we farm, how we garden, how we tend our lawn, can all impact that soil health. We can compact soil with heavy equipment. We can tear it up and turn it over with construction or recreation. The plants we grow on it, the nutrients we add to it, the organic matter we allow to develop in it, even the rainfall or irrigation it receives, are all things that can improve or hurt soil health. If you haven’t yet heard about soil health, you eventually will. I doubt that we’ll come up with a simple way of measuring soil health in my life time. But we need to remember that soil health isn’t an end goal but an ongoing journey.

Quoting from their web site, “Soil health, also referred to as soil quality, is defined as the continued capacity of soil to function as a vital living ecosystem that sustains plants, animals, and humans.” They go on to point out that soil isn’t just some sterile rooting medium but is rather a living functioning ecosystem of its’ own.Many people don’t realize how alive soil is! There is so much life in the soil, much of it invisible to the naked eye. Bacteria, fungi, yeasts, and many other organisms make up a valuable part of the soil mass and we often only see hints of it.Mt. St. Helens volcano that blew in 1980 changed the landscape. Twenty-nine years later when a colleague of mine visited it, what he saw was “just scattered plants starting to grow, much of it looked like the landscape of abarren planet”. When that volcano erupted it flash fried all living things and then buried it under feet, tens of feet, of ash. There was instantly a sterile environment. If a seed fell, that sterile medium was missing all those soil organisms that make plant life possible. We cannot underestimate the impact, the necessity of soil organisms!In the end, defining soil health is fairly easy. Measuring it is another story however. There are many soil organisms that have not been discovered yet, that are important, or we know they are there but we don’t know what they do. We truly have so much we need to learn. Perhaps the best measure of soil health is by how well plants grow, by how productive the soil is, or by how sustainable the practices. Soil health is likely something we measure indirectly.Soil health can, and does, change over time. How we farm, how we garden, how we tend our lawn, can all impact that soil health. We can compact soil with heavy equipment. We can tear it up and turn it over with construction or recreation. The plants we grow on it, the nutrients we add to it, the organic matter we allow to develop in it, even the rainfall or irrigation it receives, are all things that can improve or hurt soil health. If you haven’t yet heard about soil health, you eventually will. I doubt that we’ll come up with a simple way of measuring soil health in my life time. NORTON COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a wanted sex offender who has spent most of his life running from capture.

On Monday, a police officer conducted a traffic stop on West Holmes Street near Brown Avenue in Norton, according to a media release.

&nbsp;The officer learned the driver identified as 69-year-old Dale Farris Session had an outstanding warrant in Wisconsin for failure to register as a sex offender and in U.S. District Court for a probation violation. Officers took Sessions into custody without incident.

According to Norton Police, Sessions was convicted of kidnapping and raping two hitchhikers in 1975.&nbsp; He was sent to a mental hospital until he escaped in 1976. Sessions lived under an alias for 18 years until he was arrested again in 1994. Later that year, he was indicted for kidnapping a juvenile girl with a firearm and spent 13 years in federal prison.

Sessions has been eluding law enforcement for many years including&nbsp; most recently when warrants were issued in 2019. U.S. Marshals were happy to have Sessions in custody.&nbsp; According to Norton Police, this traffic stop for a traffic infraction led to the arrest of a potentially&nbsp; violent and dangerous individual.
