

WILD is a group for school-age youth interested in getting outside and enjoying nature.  Kansas Wetlands Education Center hosts a monthly activity, and are always welcoming new families.

KWEC WILD club will be doing a service project for this month, and then a little fun afterwards as well. 

 Kanopolis State Park has been working hard to get their trails back open after flooding last spring.

On Saturday, February 22, WILD will depart the KWEC parking lot,&nbsp;592 NE K 156 Hwy, Great Bend, at 8:45 a.m.  We will travel to Mushroom Rock State Park and help move driftwood and pick up trash around the creek.  They recommend boots and leather gloves.  Please also bring a sack lunch, water bottle, and a pack to carry at least your water.

After assisting for about 2.5 hours, we will eat our sack lunches and explore the trails.  We will return to KWEC around 3 p.m.  I can haul about 9 people in our KWEC van, others can carpool, follow, or meet us there.

The next performance from the Hays Community Theatre is Picasso at the Lapin Agile.

Comedian Steve Martin's absurd comedy of historical fiction, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, has Albert Einstein and Pablo Picasso meet in a bar in Paris in 1904, the year before Einstein's theory of relativity and Picasso's transition into cubism.

The one-act play has roles for 7 males and 4 females and will be directed by Dante Simmons.

The Hays High School Chamber Singers and a jazz combo will perform an evening's worth of love songs in the ballroom at the FHSU Memorial Union. 

 From George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hart, in the Great American Songbook to Broadway classics from West Side Story, Rent, and Annie Get Your Gun to today's Broadway hits like Wicked, Great Comet of 1812, and Spamalot. 

 Desserts and drinks are provided alongside the performance. 

 Proceeds go toward the 2021 Chamber Singers trip.

In honor of Presidents’ Day and Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, there will be an open house at the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.facebook.com/events/173612987380664/#">Lincoln County Museum, 216 W Lincoln Avenue, Lincoln, KS</a>&nbsp;on Monday, February 17.

There will be children’s activities all day, with Lincoln look-a-likes and historians sharing stories. Photo ops available with period costumes and props.

HHS program seeking senior citizen pen pals

The Monarch 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament and 
Hotshot Contest will be Saturday, March 21 at Thomas More Prep-Marian, Holy Family Elementary and the former 
Kennedy Middle School. 

The tournament is limited to grades third through eighth.

A permission form must also be completed for participation and can be found <a href="https://tmp-m.org/monarch-3-on-3-basketball-tournament-2/">HERE</a>.

Admission to the tournament (players excluded) is $2 per person. 
Children 5 and younger are free. Concessions will be available.

St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Council #2133 is celebrating their 100th&nbsp;Anniversary of the Charter and 50th&nbsp;Anniversary &amp; Rejuvenation of the Knights Hall on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. Mass, celebrated by Bishop Vincke and Father Dana Clark.&nbsp; A Come &amp; Go Reception will follow mass at the Ellis Knights of Columbus Hall with light hors’doeuvres, desserts, and beverages.&nbsp; We invite ALL Knights, along with families, as well as spouses of deceased Knights to sit in the front section of the church during Mass and to attend the reception following mass.

A K-State Sorghum Production school will offer in-depth information for sorghum growers and key stakeholders. 

The school is sponsored by Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission. 

It will be on Thursday, January 30th at the Great Bend Recreation Commission, Burnside Room, 1214 Stone Street. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. the program starts at 8:45 a.m. and concludes at 1:00 p.m.&nbsp;

The sorghum school will cover a number of issues facing sorghum growers: risk management, marketing opportunities, weed control, crop production practices, and nutrient and soil fertility.&nbsp;

Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Kansas Grain Sorghum Commission. 

There is no cost to attend, but participants are asked to pre-register by Monday, Jan. 27.

The Western Kansas Human Resource Management Association will hold its monthly meeting on Tuesday, Feb.&nbsp;11, at the Robbins Center (Eagle Communication Hall, on the FHSU campus.&nbsp; 

Registration is from 11:15 to 11:30 a.m., with a short business meeting starting at 11:30 a.m.&nbsp; 

The program for the February meeting will be “Drugs in the Workplace,” presented by Trooper Tod Hileman with the Kansas Highway Patrol.
