🏃‍♂️ Five More All-Conference Finishes at MIAA Outdoor Championships

MARYVILLE, Mo. – The Fort Hays State University track and field teams had another exceptional day on the final day of the 2024 MIAA Outdoor Championships held on Sunday in Maryville, Mo. With a stellar performance this weekend, they secured nine All-MIAA accolades and attained 14 national qualifying marks.

The Tiger women recorded a sixth-place finish with 60 points. The Tiger men racked up 61 points, to finish in eighth place, just 1.5 back of seventh place Central Missouri.

Taylor Savolt clinched a spot on the MIAA podium, finishing in third place with an electrifying time of 14.47 seconds, setting a new personal best and earning valuable points for the team. Following closely behind, Maggie Remsberg also delivered a stellar performance, achieving a personal best of 14.55 seconds and securing a fourth-place finish. Savolt's third place finish marks her fifth All-MIAA performance, her second in the 400mH.

The 800m trio consisting of Trever MedinaEthan Lang and Aaron Mangan added quality points to the men's team totals. Medina demonstrated talent, securing second place with a blistering time of 1:50.26, earning his first outdoor All-MIAA honor and adding eight points for the team. Lang delivered a standout performance as well, crossing the finish line in third place with a time of 1:50.87, marking his best season performance and contributing six crucial points to the team's overall score. Lang's finish marks his 13th All-MIAA performance, his first In the 800m race. Their remarkable efforts were complemented by Aaron Mangan, finishing in sixth place with a commendable time of 1:52.20, earning three points for the team.

Grant Bradley soared to new heights in the 1,500m event, delivering a personal best time of 3:47.78 to secure third place and earn an All-MIAA honor. Ethan Fisher also left his mark with a personal best time in the 1,500m, clinching eighth place. Dayton Williams showcased his talent in the high jump, achieving a personal best mark of 7-0.25. This height marks the second highest jump in DII FHSU history and is now tied for tenth in the nation this outdoor season.

In the field events, Addie Berens impressed in the women's javelin throw, claiming third place with a distance of 148-07, while Rhyann Brown showcased her prowess with a sixth-place finish. Berens third place finish marks her fourth outdoor All-MIAA finish in a row. Connor Kaplinger demonstrated his skill in the men's javelin, achieving a personal best performance with a throw of 182-05.In the women's 4x400m relay, the quartet of Reba MaderKinley BrownMaggie Remsberg, and Taylor Savolt demonstrated their endurance, finishing in sixth place with a time of 3:47.49. This performance earned them a DII provisional qualification, highlighting their potential for continued success at the national level.

The Tigers will return to action next Saturday (May 11) at the Loper Twilight in Kearney, Neb. with one last chance to improve their standing on the national qualifying list. The 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 23-25 in Emporia, Kan.
