ELLIS COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just before 10a.m. Thursday in Ellis County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 International trash truck driven by Terrence F. Riedel, 55, Gorham, was northbound on U.S. 183 Bypass at 27th Street and moved onto the northbound shoulder in an attempt to avoid a collision with a southbound 2ooo Buick LeSabre driven by Gwyn E. Legleiter, 47, Hays.
The Buick crossed the center line and traveled off the roadway to the left. The car and trash truck collided on the northbound shoulder.
EMS transported Legleiter to Hays Medical Center. Riedel was not injured. Legleiter was not wearing a seat belt, according to the KHP.
