🥎 TMP-Marian cruises to doubleheader sweep of Plainville

PLAINVILLE – The TMP-Marian softball team scored 36 runs on 33 hits and cruised to a doubleheader sweep of Plainville Tuesday. The Monarchs won 17-2 and 19-3 to run their winning streak to four games. The Monarchs are now 16-6 on the season while the Cardinals drop to 6-10.

Game 1: TMP-Marian17, Plainville 2 (4 innings)
Brooke Koeningsman drove in five runs on two hits. The junior hit a three-run homer to center field in the second and added a two-run triple in the third.

After a scoreless first inning, the Monarchs scored seven runs in the second to take the lead for good . Teagan Gottschalk and Molly Helget both had run-scoring singles. TMP scored two more runs on a wild pitch before Koeningsman hit the three-run homer.

TMP scored five runs on five hits in the top of the third then five more runs on two hits in the fourth.

Brynn Rebel (7-3) picked up the run-rule complete game victory allowing two unearned runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and no walks. She also had three hits in the game.

Game 2: TMP-Marian 19, Plainville 3 (6 innings)
Brooke Koeninsgman drove in four runs on four hits to lead the Monarchs 20-hit attack. Koeningsman drove in two with a single in the first, had a run-scoring single in the fifth and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

The Monarchs scored two runs in the first, one in the second, four in the third and fifth then put the game away with a seven-run sixth.

Brynn Rebel had four hits and drove in two runs.

Bria Windholz (9-3) went all six innings in the circle and picked up the win allowing three runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and one walk. Windholz also drove in three runs at the plate.
