KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State junior Ty Riley has been named the latest MIAA Baseball Pitcher of the Week, announced Monday (April 29) by the league office.

The right-handed starter wrapped up the regular season with a dominant start at Pittsburg State, striking out 12 Gorillas in a 13-8 victory on Friday. After loading the bases with no outs in the first inning, Riley proceeded to retire the next 15 batters, keeping PSU scoreless through the fifth inning. He finished the game allowing three runs on three hits and three walks in 6.0 innings of work. Riley now ranks third in the MIAA with 73 strikeouts on the year.

Riley is the fourth Tiger to earn a weekly conference honor this season, joining Isaiah Ural (co-Hitter of the Week of 4/22), Elliott Herrmann (co-Hitter of the Week - 3/12) and Cade Flaherty (Pitcher of the Week - 2/19).

Riley and the rest of the Tigers will play in the postseason for the first time since 2013 beginning Friday when FHSU takes on top-seed Central Missouri in a best two-of-three series in Warrensburg, Mo.
