⚾ FHSU secures first MIAA Tournament spot since 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Fort Hays State will play in the 2024 MIAA Baseball Championship Tournament after locking up the No. 8 seed in the bracket, announced Monday afternoon by the league office.

The Tigers finished the regular season tied for seventh in the league standings, but will play as the No. 8 seed in the tournament via tiebreaking procedures with No. 7 Northwest Missouri State. The Tigers will draw top-seeded Central Missouri in the opening round, which is a best-of-three series hosted by the higher seed.

The Tigers and Mules will begin the series on Friday (May 3) beginning at 6 p.m. followed by a 2 p.m. first pitch on Saturday (May 4). The if necessary game is scheduled for Sunday (May 5) at 1 p.m.

Tickets will be available at a price of $6 for adults, $4 for seniors, $3 for youth 6-17 and $3 for visiting college students. Kids 6 and under get in free. Live video will be available with a subscription to The MIAA Network, while live radio coverage with voice fo the Tigers Gerard Wellbrock will be available for free on KJLS 103.3 FM. The winners of the four first round series will then advance to Pittsburg, Kan. for a double-elimination tournament May 9-12.

This is Fort Hays State's first trip to the postseason since 2013. The Tigers played in the MIAA Tournament seven times in their first eight years in the league, going a combined 5-11 in those seven appearances. The Tigers are 0-4 against Central Missouri in the MIAA Tournament.
